The ACHRA recognizes leadership and distinction in HR Management. The following are the award categories for the 2010 Atlantic HR Awards. At the 2010 Awards Gala, achievement in human resources management will be recognized with these awards:

Excellence in Human Resources Award

Purpose
To celebrate excellence in human resources. To recognize an individual that has demonstrated an outstanding record of contribution to human resources, and that embodies the best that human resources can offer.

Criteria
The actual accomplishments of the individual that demonstrates:
  • Success with customers or clients as recognized by the CEO, Board, colleagues and stakeholders
  • Success of the organization served
  • Success in promoting and advancing the profession
  • Success in aligning and influencing corporate strategies with the best of HR practices
  • Commitment to learning and continuous professional development

Strategic Partnership Award

Purpose
To recognize and applaud the successful link between organizational strategy and human resources. To a team or an individual who demonstrates HR as a strategic partner by initiating strategies that are aligned with the strategic plan and communicated throughout.
Criteria
Having created an environment where:
  • Strong and effective HR leadership is respected at the top level of the organization
  • Strategic goals and objectives are linked to HR and improve performance
  • The culture fosters innovation and flexibility
  • Strategies successfully deal with organizational change
  • HR practices align with strategic and business plans
  • HR strategy is clearly integral to business practice

New Human Resources Leader Award
Purpose
To promote and recognize a promising human resources professional at an early stage in their career. For a human resource management student or a practitioner who has graduated from such a program in the past three years, or a practitioner who entered the profession within the past three years.
Criteria
  • Participates in professional associations, student activities or extra-curricular activities with a HR focus
  • Demonstrates initiative in applying human resources knowledge and skills (may be paid or unpaid).
  • Consistently demonstrates respect for others, objectivity, professionalism, ethical practice.
  • Promotes appropriate application of HR principles.
  • Influences others with respect to the value of HR

Human Resources Innovation Award
Purpose
To find, celebrate and inspire innovation in the human resources field. For an individual or organization that makes a difference to the people it serves, through an innovative HR program or practice that creates a new standard of performance.

Criteria
The program or service must:
  • Further the mission of the organization
  • Have specific and measurable outcomes
  • Exemplify innovation by demonstrating a new dimension of performance
  • Have been implemented and sustained for long enough to have demonstrated its effectiveness
  • Be distinctive in design, delivery and results
